Reduced crew ops concepts (eMCO/SiPO)

Mankind and the concepts of eMCO and SiPO.

ECA has published a position paper addressing the much-discussed concept of reduced crew operations (Extended Minimum Crew Operations, eMCO, and Single Pilot Operations, SiPO).

In it, the umbrella organization comments on key policy messages while highlighting flight safety concerns (including fatigue). It calls on policymakers to use technological advances to improve human capacity rather than replace it, and ECA emphasizes the fundamental role of the ‘human pilot’ as a safety resource.
